Visitation & Service Information

 Visitation will be 10:00-11:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2021, at Kasson Church of Christ, 901 8th Avenue N.W. The funeral service will be 11:30 a.m. following the visitation at the church with Pastor Dale DePeel officiating.  Lunch will be provided following the service.

Obituary

Marjean “Jean” L. Schmoll, 82, of Kasson, MN passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Friday, September 3, 2021, at her home in Kasson.


Jean was born in Wabasha, MN on February 17, 1939 to Leon and Margaret (Ball) Irish. She attended and graduated from Eyota High School. Jean married Gordon Hammel and together they had six children, Susan, David, Karen, Cindy, Joanne, and Daniel. They later divorced. Jean married Blaine Austad and together they had a son, Blaine Jr. After Blaine’s passing in 1990, Jean married Kenneth Schmoll in Stewartville in 1994. She enjoyed camping with her family and her crossword puzzles. Jean had a love dune buggying with her husband. Jean also enjoyed birds, flowers, jigsaw puzzles and gardening. She was active in her church, Kasson Church of Christ.


She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Susan Wondrasch; her son, David Hammel; her sister, LeeAnn Higgins; and grandchildren, Wesley Hammel and Alexander Hammel.


Jean is survived by her husband, Ken; children, Karen (Robert) Smith, Cindy Hammel, Joanne (Keith) Burke, Daniel Hammel; Blaine Austad; son-in-law, Dewey Wondrasch; daughter-in-law, Diane Hammel; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; and her brother, Glenn (Wanda) Irish.
